Managed & mentored crews of up to 12 members from a wide variety of backgrounds. Oversaw shipyard project management, crew training, safety drills, equipment testing, and all associated reports & documentation.
Navigation experience on yachts up to 220ft in length on waters anywhere from the Mediterranean Sea to Alaska, including 10 Atlantic crossings.
Responsible for passage planning, as well as management of the Admiralty chart inventory, including meticulous organization and hand drawn corrections as required by International Maritime Law.
Created custom yacht-specific compliance forms for the vessel and crew in regards to International Safety Management, which streamlined the process of increasing commercial regulations facing the industry.
Working and living aboard private yachts in tiny, shared living spaces, at times as the only American, gave me an international perspective on management, team work, scheduling, unique problem solving, and confrontation avoidance, an especially critical skill because the workplace and living quarters were often one and the same.
